# Kepler’s laws

- Kepler’s laws of planetary motion, named after their discoverer Johannes Kepler (1571–1630), state:
*Time to travel from A to X = C to Y Time to travel (E-Q-E)*^{2 }= (EO)^{3 }**i.**The path of a planet around the sun is an ellipse, and the sun is at one of the foci of the ellipse.**ii.**The line joining the planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas in equal times.**iii.**The square of the time of an orbital revolution is proportional to the cube of the major semi-axis.
